This article lists some useful tips when modeling. Feel free to contribute if you have more.

  • The Drag-Align tool (hold down ctrl) can be used in Mesh Editor just like in World Editor. This is very useful for positioning new primitives in general after you've created them.
  • To save time, you can copy and paste existing shapes (selected polygons). Note that pasted shapes will appear in the same location as the original shape, so you have to use the drag-align tool to position them.
  • You often don't need very complicated shapes to create a specific model. Sometimes you can simply model a box and then copy/paste it over in world editor to create the model you need. Logical thinking helps. For instance, if you want to create a bookshelf or something...model a simple plank and paste and rotate it to resemble a shelf.
